About us

The Mill of
La Neyrette.

You are here at La Neyrette, in Saint-Disdier, in the Dévoluy (Hautes-Alpes). Let me take you back in time.

Since the 19th century

A family mill.

The Moulin de la Neyrette has belonged to our family since the 19th century. Back then, wheat was threshed here and a paddle wheel drove the millstone that produced the family's flour.

My grandparents, Simone and Yvon, lived in this family farm; the old building, which still stands, is today the restaurant dining room.

A lake dug with a tractor.

In the 1970s, modern life took over from farming: little by little there were no more cows, ewes or pigs. But the stream that once powered the mill was teeming with trout!

Yvon, a postman when he was not farming, had wild ideas on his rounds, including digging a lake in the garden. With his tractor he created the stretch of water that would host trout fishing for nearly 15 years in the 1980s. It was a success; Simone, a fine cook, prepared the trout and began to imagine opening a guest table…

From restaurant
to hotel.

With the rise of tourism and the building of Superdévoluy in the early 1980s, my parents Claudine and Jean-Claude, married in 1972, settled at La Neyrette and had the idea of opening a restaurant, then a hotel.

That was no accident: Jean-Claude was already a hospitality professional and a keen motorcyclist, and Claudine, the daughter of the house, had always lived among her parents' abundant ideas. Over the years, the Moulin de la Neyrette became the Auberge de la Neyrette, then a Logis de France.
